Sleep Schedules for your Students

Sleep Schedules for your Students

Contributed by Becky Ingram

Having a routine sleep schedule each night is important for children to ensure they are waking up energized and ready to face their day of learning. Sleep helps our brains regenerate so that we can function properly and if your child isn’t getting enough sleep at night, it can affect their behavior and performance the following day. While this might seem like common knowledge, lack of sleep is one of the leading causes of children’s behaviors in the classroom. Setting up a consistent bedtime routine for the same time every night will help your child naturally fall asleep on their own. Parents can help their children wind down and relax by having your child get into their pajamas, brush their teeth, and read to them each night. Keeping this repetitive routine up will allow your child to feel safe and let them know it is time for bed.
