COMMUNITY - Mat-Su Animal Shelter Clinic Support 8(Walk and Roll 2017).jpg

Did you know that the Mat-Su Animal Shelter provides a free spay or neuter clinic each month?

Well, they do. Each month, the Shelter has either a spay or neuter clinic, and post on their Facebook page when the clinics are held and that registration is open. Sign-up is first come, first serve, and clinic services include the rabies shot, a microchip, a 3-year borough license and of course, the spay or neuter service.

To qualify, families’ must be a Mat-Su Borough resident and provide one of the following:

A currently approved food stamp letter, 2016 taxes confirming low-income (per family size), a senior citizen with ID over the age of 65 or military member on active duty ranks E-1 through E-4.

Please contact the Shelter for more details at 907-761-7500, or stop by 9470 E. Chanylut Circle Palmer, AK 99645.

The Shelter recently had a spay/neuter day on Feb 28, 2018, in support of World Spay Day. They were able to provide the free service to 10 dogs and 15 cats.  During the March clinic, they were able to support five dogs and five cats. In April, they will be having a neuter clinic, be on the lookout. Remember, it is first come, first serve when signing up. The Shelter will continue to support the community as long as funding is available. The spay/neuter clinics are funded through generous donations.

Donations from the yearly Walk n’ Roll Animal 5K that is happening this year on June 2, 2018 help contribute this free service to the community. Everyone can donate. You can sign up at the Animal Shelter front desk, any of the local area adoption days in April or online via the Walk n’ Roll for Animals 5K Alaska Facebook page. This event is coordinated and put on by the non-profit, Advocates for Dog and Puppy Wellness.

If you would like to be a sponsor and have your business represented or be a vendor at the event, please contact an admin on the Walk n Roll Facebook page or Julie Johnson at 907-351-1385.

The Mat-Su Animal Shelter hours of operation are Tuesday-Thursday 1pm-6pm, Friday-Saturday 11am-5pm and Sunday-Monday closed. Please leave a message if they are not open.
