Cast Iron Pizza

6 Ingredient Crustless Cast Iron Pizza

Ok, let’s be honest, it’s a pizza so don’t limit yourself if you don’t want to!  This is quick and easy and fits the low carb lifestyle too if you want.  For that matter, it could fit vegan options too…yeah, like I said, it’s PIZZA!!! 

Ingredients You’ll Need:

        1 pound ground sausage

        1/2 onion, diced

        1 green bell pepper, diced

        2 cups shredded cheese - mozzarella or manchego

        1 cup marinara sauce (look for low or no sugar)

        12+ slices pepperoni


Optional Spices: 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, pinch each garlic powder and crushed red pepper

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Meanwhile, coat a 10- or 12-inch cast iron skillet with cooking spray and set over medium-high heat.      

-       Crumble in sausage. Add in onion and pepper and cook, until the sausage is cooked through, and the vegetables are softened, 6 to 8 minutes. Stir in oregano, garlic powder and red pepper and remove from the heat.

-       Mix the pizza sauce into the sausage mixture. Top with cheese and arrange pepperoni on top.

-       Bake until bubbling hot, about 12 to 18 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving…if you can wait that long!  OH YESSSS!
