Fall is one of our favorite times of the year at the Alaska Railroad because it means our popular special event trains begin rolling out across the Last Frontier. We’re already revving up for a scary good time onboard our popular Kid’s Halloween Train, which is back for a second year with added departures this fall. The family-friendly train is sure to be sweeter than ever with costumes, crafts, tasty treats and more throughout the round-trip trek from Anchorage to Indian.
Last year’s inaugural Kid’s Halloween Train was a great success, which is why we’ve expanded this popular special event train to offer families more opportunities to get onboard for a fun, festive and safe Halloween experience all in one location. With departures at 10a.m. and 3p.m. on Saturday, October 21st and 28th, passengers will enjoy monster-size fun, including entertainment from a magician, crafts, balloon animals, Halloween-themed bingo, a raffle and coloring contest. Tickets are $69 for adults and $35 for children, ages 2-11 years old. Children under two that do not require a seat are considered “infant in lap” and may ride for free with an accompanying adult.
Also returning this October is our Great Alaska Beer Train, where adults can see the beautiful Turnagain Arm while enjoying an array of brews and hors d’oeuvres from Glacier Brewhouse with Alaska’s best designated driver. Departing from Anchorage on Saturday, October 7th at 4p.m., passengers will experience an Alaska-style Oktoberfest celebration filled with specialty brews, appetizers, music and a fun crowd of fellow beer-lovers. Tickets are $179 per person and include appetizers, six half-pint beers and live music, with the opportunity to purchase additional brews onboard.
We’re always looking for ways to provide families, locals and visitors alike with new options to explore the Last Frontier year-round, and these special event trains are just another way we hope to do that this fall.
