The Richardson Spouses’ Club Country Fair is celebrating its 40th anniversary on Saturday, November 3rd at Buckner Fitness Center on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson from 10:00AM to 5:00PM.
Held annually on the first Saturday in November, the country fair brings over a hundred vendors from all over the state to create a unique holiday shopping experience for the whole family! Alaskan artists, artisans, craftsmen and small business owners showcase their one-of-a-kind homemade goods, gifts and seasonal décor. Saunter down aisles of “Made in Alaska” products. Be inspired by the beauty and artistry of these handmade items. Take a break and enjoy mouthwatering lunches and holiday cheer! From home décor to Alaskan made knives, from clothing and jewelry to kids face painting and crafts, there’s something for everyone in the family!
The country fair is a great opportunity to support small business all while completing your holiday shopping in a fun and festive atmosphere. Door prizes donated by vendors are drawn every hour! Some of the vendors have been participating in this time-honored event since it began forty years ago!
The country fair brings people from all over Anchorage, Eagle River, Chugiak, and the Mat-Su Valley together in a fun and festive holiday event. The Richardson Spouses’ Club, or RSC, has eagerly hosted this holiday bazaar as its fall fundraiser every November to raise money for its scholarship program and charitable grants. One of the two major fundraising events, the country fair is a big part of the scholarship program. All proceeds from vendor booth fees, RSC booths and donations go towards these charitable initiatives. Every spring the RSC awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to military dependents. In May of 2018, the RSC gave away $15,000 in scholarships to military dependents right here in Alaska who were seeking higher education.
The RSC is an organization on JBER for all military spouses of all branches and ranks. It is an organization focused on supporting military spouses by offering opportunities for friendship, leadership, and service. The RSC fosters positive life experiences and personal growth through service to the military and civilian communities.
Throughout the year the RSC gathers together for monthly socials, inter-club activities, special events and community outreach opportunities. The country fair is a tried and true example of the RSC mission. The RSC board have come together to organize this huge fundraiser, and it would not be a success without the tireless work of all the volunteers from the club, local high schools and military units on JBER. Nor would it be a success without our incredible vendors! Come and see all they have to offer!
