Alaska takes “first place” in many things. As the largest state, we boast the tallest mountain in North America, the busiest float plane airport in the world, the biggest vegetables and, according to US News’ Best States, the number one lowest tax burden. Tragically, we also claim first in the areas of domestic violence, sexual assault, suicide and child abuse. These statistics do not represent just numbers. They represent communities full of hurting people.

What would it look like if hurting people had someone to STAND with them?

What if the family facing a crisis had someone standing with them to care for their children? What if the child who was just removed from their home had someone standing alongside them in court? What if the foster parents who just took in another neglected child had someone standing beside them? What if the young girl facing an unplanned pregnancy had someone standing with her? What if the child waiting in foster care had a family standing with him for life?

On the evening of November 18th, the Mat-Su community will be challenged to STAND. Many will gather at Church on the Rock, Palmer campus, to hear the many victories of those who are standing with Alaska’s vulnerable children and families. You are invited to stand with others on Sunday, November 18th.

Will you STAND with Alaska’s vulnerable children and make a difference in just one life?
