We celebrate lots of things in life: births, anniversaries, graduations, and birthdays. We celebrate lots of different ways: food, gifts, parties, with friends and family, games, and laughter. Many in the US celebrate the traditional holiday of Thanksgiving with friends and family, food and fun. In Palmer, many continue their celebration the Saturday after Thanksgiving with fireworks downtown. Some may know that Stan Guthrie with Country Cutts provides one of the best fireworks shows in the Valley; but, do you know why he puts on such an extravagant display? Do you know the story behind the celebration?
Oh, there are rumors that float around our little town about the quirky guy who has cut hair in Palmer for decades. Some say it is for his birthday and that is close, but not quite it. Why the Saturday after Thanksgiving and more importantly, why do the fireworks go off at exactly 7:19pm? Come to the 7.19 Celebration at the Borough Gym (350 E Dahlia) to find out and kick off the celebration. The pre-party will start at 6pm with live music, refreshments and family-friendly fun, before we flow out onto the lawn for a front row seat to the best fireworks show in the state!
