Fair Seeks Candidates for Two Open Board Seats

Alaska State Fair, Inc. is currently seeking candidates interested in serving on the board of directors. The candidate application deadline is Friday, December 15th at 4:30 p.m.
 
The seven-member board of directors is responsible for setting policy for Alaska State Fair, Inc., a private, nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation. Current directors include Stephen Brown, President; Kristy Bernier, Vice President; John Tracy, Secretary; Danny Consenstein Treasurer; Jason Ortiz, Director; Richard Stryken, Director and John Harkey, Director.
 
Current 2017 annual and lifetime (having joined before December 15, 2017) Fair members will vote to fill two open board seats which each serve a 3-year term. Directors will be elected at the Fair’s annual meeting, scheduled for Thursday, February 8, 2018.
 
Directors’ responsibilities are to set policies to accomplish the Fair’s mission statement: Produce a traditional state fair which educates and entertains fairgoers, provide stable finances through good business practices, statewide outreach, partnerships and hosting a variety of community, cultural and business events.




The election committee is seeking individuals who can envision the fair as a gathering place for all Alaskans by encompassing the past, present and future, and individuals who can make the full commitment of time and self-discipline it takes to set policy.

To be eligible, candidates must be Alaska residents, at least 18 years old and be members of Alaska State Fair, Inc., either as a lifetime member or an annual member in the current year. The deadline to become a current 2017 member is Friday, December 15th at 4:30 p.m.
 
Interested candidates should obtain an application packet, available at www.alaskastatefair.org or at the Fair’s main office, located at 2075 Glenn Highway in Palmer. Completed materials should be emailed to jerry@alaskastatefair.org, or mailed or delivered to Alaska State Fair, Inc., Attention: Jerry Baker, 2075 Glenn Highway, Palmer, Alaska 99645. Applications must be received no later than December 15th at 4:30 p.m.
