PRESS RELEASE
The Mat-Su Sertoma Club is pleased to announce that they are offering a scholarship for any student traveling overseas on an exchange program, to assist in developing their career in the health industry. This is the second year Sertoma has provided funds for international learning to Alaskan students.
Applicants should submit an essay of 500 words or less on their goals, purpose of the trip and how it will benefit their future no later than December 31, 2017.
Jim Vrooman was a Mat Su Sertoma Club member who exemplified volunteerism and grace. In addition to authoring The Times of My Life, he also served on the Wasilla Area Senior Center board of directors. In honor of his example and leadership within the community, the Mat Su Sertoma Club wanted him to be remembered through this annual grant.
Essays are due by the end of the year and should be mailed to the Mat Su Sertoma Club, P. O. Box 874202, Wasilla, AK 99687.
About Mat-Su Sertoma Club:
The Mat-Su Sertoma Club meets the first and third Thursday of each month at the Windbreak Café at 6:30 p.m. Many Valley residents are familiar with their annual event, Mat Su Sertoma’s Plunge “The Original Valley Dip”, which has raised almost $300,000 for local non-profit organizations and educational grants. Sertoma also offers free hearing screening to the public on the first Saturday of each month.
