Like springtime buds emerging from their long winters nap, VFAA artists are popping up everywhere: Wasilla, Palmer, Talkeetna and Anchorage.

Faraway and Home: Nancy Angelini Crawford

Award-winning artist, Nancy Angelini Crawford, will be sharing paintings from travels from around the world and from her home state of Alaska. Nancy's work has been coined as “emotional realism. She paints to share the beautiful moments she sees through an artist's eye that are often overlooked. 

Enjoy a lovely cup of coffee and travel the world. Bring a friend, be transported and see her original oil paintings, perhaps even bring one home.

All the proceeds from this sale goes to the Erin K. Johnson Memorial Fund, www.erinkjohnson.com. Erin was killed by a predatory black bear while working for Alaska Biological Research. This endowed fund will be able to provide (in perpetuity) donations and grants to organizations and individuals aligned with the mission to get children outdoors to experience nature,  promote scientific education and to protect Alaska’s wild places. These are the values Erin cherished.

Trail Doc Artist is Dr. James B. Leach III. Dr. Leach and his wife, Annie, have lived in Alaska for over 40 years. Jim was involved with and racing sled dogs and worked with numerous sled dog races, throughout Alaska and into Russia. Jim and his wife, Annie, flew their airplane to many bush villages to hold clinics. At the time of his retirement, Jim traded his scalpel for brushes and canvas. He paints both in oils and acrylics and is a primarily self-taught artist. 

Come by and enjoy a brew and the art!

7th Annual Machetanz Art Festival

This year the featured artist is the famous Dean Larson! Other talented artists will be teaching workshops. Amongst them, two members of the Valley Fine Arts Association will be conducting a one-day workshop: June 2nd - Karen Mattson, Watercolor Techniques and Judy Vars, Encaustic Wax Techniques.
