The Alaska Chapter of the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) grew this recently with the addition of a Chapter in Fairbanks. Thus, the main Chapter’s name will now be “Greater Alaska Chapter of AMAC”.
Going forward, we will be traveling to Sterling to attend a senior citizens breakfast on May 26th and look to recruit AMAC members within that area with the hopes of starting a new chapter for the Kenai Peninsula. The goal for our large state is to have AMAC Chapters in Southeast, Anchorage, Mat-Su, Fairbanks and Valdez, as well as many other areas throughout Alaska.
Our recent monthly meetings were blessed with Congressman Don Young and Senator Dan Sullivan. Attendees were educated on mature citizen issues and updated on what is going on in Washington D.C. with respect to issues that are of concern to not just mature citizens, but to all Alaskans and Americans.
May 12th, we hosted a Lt. Governor Candidates Forum. In attendance were Edie Grundwald, Lynn Gattis, Stephen Wright and Sharon Jackson. Senator Kevin Meyer teleconferenced the meeting from Juneau. Those who attended the forum presented the candidates with very solid and enlightened questions. The Candidates answers were straight forward, clear and concise. Questions ranged from tax issues, Pebble Mine, SB91 - crime, PFD, Pt. Mackenzie Bridge, mail-in vs. voting box and much more.
The Greater Alaska Chapter of AMAC will be holding a Governors Candidate Forum at our June 23rd meeting, 11AM at the Chugiak Senior Center. Confirmed gubernatorial candidates in attendance will be: Mike Dunleavy, Mike Sheldon and Scott Hawkins. (Mike Chenault has a prior commitment, but may teleconference). We invite all AMAC members and guests, as well as all mature conservative Alaskan citizens, to attend this very important meeting.
Recently, President Trump announced prescription drug reforms in the Rose Garden. Two invited guests were the VPs of AMAC, Andrew Mangoine and Mr. Parker. The plans being put forward by President Trump are closely aligned to what AMAC has been working on with the members of Congress to enact. AMAC is honored for the privilege to be included in this work.
In closing, our meetings are held the 2nd Saturday of each month (except June), 11AM to 12PM, alternating between the Wasilla Senior Center and the Chugiak Senior Center. We invite all AMAC members, guests and conservative mature citizens to attend.
