PRESS RELEASE from Mat-Su Regional Medical Center
Mat-Su Regional Medical Center will soon offer an even more comprehensive array of healthcare services with the expansion of its medical campus, including the addition of a 40,000 square foot medical plaza.
Groundbreaking for Medical Plaza II began in August of 2017. The structural construction phase has just been completed and the building is scheduled to open this summer.
Medical Plaza II will house independent physician groups and health service providers, with plans to include expanded oncology services, pharmacy, an advanced wound care center, general surgery, a variety of multi-specialty services and administrative space. The new building is connected to the existing medical plaza, which will streamline the delivery of healthcare services and collaboration between inpatient and outpatient medical teams.
Medical providers will benefit from an on-campus presence that facilitates a multi-specialty team approach to patient care. Patients will also benefit by having numerous specialists and referral services conveniently located in a medical hub.
Campus expansion also includes the construction phase of Mat-Su Regional’s already shelled third floor, which will commence in the first quarter of this year and add 52 inpatient beds for medical and surgical care. The hospital is also adding a 36-bed inpatient behavioral health facility to provide adult psychiatric and substance abuse treatment.
The campus expansion is scheduled to be completed in 2020 and will more than double the hospital’s capacity. These combined projects represent the largest infrastructure investment since the hospital opened more than a decade ago.
The outpatient project is owned by Welltower, developed by MedCraft Healthcare Real Estate, designed by Boulder Architects and constructed by Howdie Inc.
