“Every experience I have is perfect for my growth.” - Lousie Hay
I would like to start by saying thank you for picking up this paper and taking time to explore its pages. You are an amazing person with a creative perspective on life. Having an attitude of gratitude as much as possible allows us to step out of the fog of negativity so that we may find ourselves standing on top of the mountain and shining in the sunlight. You are a part of that radiance. Thank you.
I was introduced to yoga as a child, and I turned to yoga while in college to help manage stress, anxiety, weight and self-confidence. Once I graduated, I decided my next step was to become a yoga instructor in hopes to spread peace and positive vibes. I moved to Alaska in October. Trading the cornfields of the Midwest for mountains was a risk, yet it has been full of opportunity.
The new year is around the corner, which may compel us to make new year’s resolutions. The Alaska Music and Arts family would like to invite you and your friends/family to check out yoga, martial arts, and music in 2018! The key to making those resolutions more long-term is consistency and a positive, motivating environment.
Hatha Yoga is a great place to start for anybody interested in giving yoga a try in 2018! This style of yoga focuses on balancing energies of sun and moon, light and dark, busy and relaxed and so on. During the winter months, it is dark and cold. Some people may not feel very motivated, and that’s okay. This part of the Earth’s cycle is meant for turning inward in order to reflect and relax. I encourage you to use yoga as an active approach to this state of mind.
Practicing yoga improves strength, flexibility and posture. The combination of yoga poses, moving the body with the breath and an opportunity to calm the mind allows one to find peace of mind more regularly.
My classes at Alaska Music and Arts are Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:00pm – 6:00pm. You can also find Thursday night classes with Antiqua Lisha. She offers Therapeutic Yoga from 4:00pm – 5:00pm and Vinyasa Flow Yoga at 5:30pm – 6:30pm.
Thanks again for reading, and we would be delighted if you stopped by the Studio!
