The Mat-Su Martin Luther King, Jr. Foundation 15th Annual Event Celebration will take place on January 16, 2017 at the Mat- Su (Palmer) Senior Center at 1132 South Chugach Street from 1 to 4 p.m. It is free to the public. 

The 2017 theme for the Mat-Su Martin Luther King, Jr. Foundation 15th Annual Celebration is a "Citizenship! Civic engagement, more than just voting".

The keynote speaker is community leader and civic activist, Mr. Cal Williams, of Anchorage. Our guest speaker is Ms. Cheryl V Puryear of Palmer. 

Community support from the Mat-Su Community Chorus and Palmer High School Chorus. The Colony Calypso Steel Drum Society will perform. Sherrod Elementary School students, led by Ms. Annie Williams, will present a theatrical skit and Ms. Jean Pollard with Alaska Hwy Project brings a special announcement regarding the building of the Alaska Hwy.

The Mat-Su MLK, Jr. Foundation is a non-profit 501 3(c) organization whose mission is to promote unity, equality and to strengthen the Mat-Su community by facilitating a forum to bring citizens and stakeholders together through education, communication and social interactions by unifying diverse cultures, ethnicity and faiths through sponsored events. 

Come celebrate and revitalize King’s dream of all community members living and thriving together at this once a year community celebration of his birthday.

The Foundation provides a scholarship fund to provide financial support for a Mat-Su graduating high school student.
