Boom Town is heading into Season 8, and we are excited about what’s on the horizon.
As the sport of roller derby grows and evolves, Boom Town has updated our name and logo to reflect the changes in our league. Boom Town Roller Derby strives to be inclusive of all members of our league, and changes are being made to reflect who we are as a league and as members of the Mat-Su Valley communities. Our skating team will remain the Boom Town Derby Dames at home and on the road.
Watch for Boom Town rolling through downtown Palmer during the Alaska State Fair parade on August 25th! We will be participating in the fair parade for the first time, and are excited to be passing out goodies and spreading the word about roller derby in the Valley and beyond.
New member intake for all new skaters, officials and volunteers is coming up soon! September 16th, 10 A.M. at the Mat-Su Borough Community Gym in Palmer, come learn about all the various roles you can fill in the fastest growing sport in the world. Boom Town Roller Derby is now recruiting new skating and non-skating members, 18+ (must be out of high school), men and women. We can teach you everything you need to know about how to skate, and how to rock the off-skates roles.
