I am supporting DeLena Johnson to continue as our Palmer-area State House Representative. Here’s why:
First: The American Conservative Union Foundation granted Rep. Johnson their “Award for Conservative Excellence”. She is among a small minority of Alaska House members to achieve this status. Her commitment to conservative values is clearly not in doubt.
Second: She has listened to the people of the Palmer area, and responded every step of the way, starting with her HR6, setting the bar for a 90-day budget, and then her HB311 bill to repeal the failed SB91 crime statute. This isn’t just talk. Rep. Johnson takes action.
Third: DeLena stood up against the intrusion of the federal government’s national ID program to fight for our right to privacy.
Fourth: DeLena defied the status quo, and actively pushed for suspending per diem to legislators if the budget was not passed in the first 90 days of the legislative session.
Fifth: Closer to home, DeLena committed to and followed through with full funding for our pioneer homes, and she put pressure on the administration to get the vacant trooper positions in B-Detachment filled to combat crime.
Sixth: Rep. Johnson has worked hard to keep Valley businesses strong by supporting private sector opportunity to contract with DNR, DOT and other departments, protecting jobs and getting more money into our local economy.
Seventh: DeLena stood firm on funding education and giving school districts predictability, so they do not have to pinkslip teachers.
Eighth: DeLena strongly argued for and voted for your FULL PFD because she knows the money in your hands spent in the local economy creates jobs and makes everybody better off!
As an incumbent next session, Rep. Johnson will leverage her increasing seniority and experience to advance a responsible conservative agenda and capitalize on opportunities for the Palmer area even more. Anybody can tell you they’re the one for the job, but DeLena Johnson has proven her value eight times over. She walks the talk.
