With the burgeoning of spring comes the music of life — its sounds surround us. You don’t have to be adventurous to enjoy nature’s harmonies, just listen. While you’re at it, there are other voices which pique interests; specifically, choral voices.

With the coming of a new season, that brings melting snow, mud, graduations and their parties, spring cleaning, garden preparations and so forth, it’s a challenge to fit in all of our chores and activities. As a break in the flurry of such activity, why not sit, catch your breath and enjoy voices who have worked hard to entertain and even inspire you. The Mat-Su Community Chorus is ready to preform for you, On The Stage.

Directed by Anna Crowther, the program is characterized with three parts that will tickle the fancy of any true music lover. On The Stage begins with the beautiful melodies and arias from Giuseppe Verdi’s opuses, “La Traviata” and “Nabucco”, the “Humming Choir”, from Giacometti Puccini’s, “Madama Butterfly” and a smattering of other classical artists. The section following is from a less formal stage, music usually preformed in churches or at folk festivals. The final part showcases Broadway showtunes from “Ragtime”, “Evita”, “Candide” and much more. These are performed by the Chorus and individual members.

Whether you’re a classical music fan or a flashy, Broadway junkie, there will be entertainment for every member of the family and friends. It’s the best show in town for the price! Come join the Mat-Su Chorus, On The Stage!

Shows and showtimes are: Saturday, April 21st, 4pm at the Willow Community Center (This concert is free to the public; a free-will offering is always appreciated), followed by Sunday, May 6th, 4pm at the First Presbyterian Church, Wasilla (tickets are $5.00, seniors and students are free).
