Little Su and Juju Bee

Little Su and Juju Bee

Little Su was in anguish. The sweet pup was mourning for the losses of her beloved Grandma and Grandpa or as she called them, Mama Do and Papa Du. The dear folks were up in years, but they were still taken too soon.
Little Su and her 3 companions, Oliver, Sweet Bax, and Juju Bee, also grieved for the 2 elders. The old folks, after their own brood were grown and gone, doted on the cuddly and most interested pups. After all! Gummie Bears and vanilla wafers were always a welcome treat and quite plentiful!

Who else were Mama Do and Papa Do going to spoil? After being taken away from their home, the pups were living in quite a pleasant place in the country. It was actually with the 2 daughters of the elders and their friend. It was here where they found their new home. While the women were relaxing and watching a silly show on the television, Little Su began to yip yip and cry. She wanted attention and comfort. Juju Bee chimed in. But then, he imparted to Little Su that maybe someday, they would be given a new Grandma and Grandpa. Little Su became very hopeful and, in her excitement, cried, Mama! Mama! Oh! Come rescue me from these sad and forlorn devils!

Juju Bee thought, how melodramatic! It wasn't so bad here with the 3 women. They didn't spoil us with treats, but we had plenty of room to run and play. The days went by. One day was much the same as the other. Then, Juju Bee heard one of the women say, that they were expecting her mother to come and stay, for a time. He rushed to Little Su to tell her. Then, he told Oliver and Sweet Bax. Oh, my! She'll be just like Mama Do!

The preparations were made. The pups were a little discomfited with all the fussing to make everything just right. The pups even got a bath, shampoo, and a trim. They even had their nails done! No jumping up and scratching the Mama Lu senior. On no special day. No different from another, a car pulled up outside and a rather plump woman disembarked. A chair with 2 large wheels was brought around to her. She settled into the chair and was wheeled into the house.
The 4 pups gave quite a commotion and were quite raucous! Oh! Well! What a greeting, Mama Lu said. After they all got acquainted, Mama Lu decided that she would retire to bed. It had been a long trip. Little Su was very disappointed. No treats?! No snuggles?! No coos and sweet words of endearment?! What a coupe!

It seemed, Mama Lu wasn't interested in the pups. Little Su sunk into a malaise. It seemed, all the women wanted was to sit and talk with an occasional chortle or guffaw. No Gummie Bears nor vanilla wafers. Well, Little Su was always food driven. Juju Bee thought, these women weren't so bad. He had seen worse. It was only a few days, and Mama Lu was gone. The house grew quiet except for the female chatter and what came to be expected as the usual house sounds.

Little Su sulked, but Juju Bee ruminated to himself. Maybe, one only gets 1 or 2 Mama Dos and Papa Dos in one lifetime. We should count ourselves blessed. Juju Bee said to Little Su; you know, there is only 1 Little Su in the whole world. And only 1 Juju Bee and 1 Oliver and 1 Sweet Bax. Maybe, there was only 1 Mama Do and Papa Do. Little Su pondered on this and seemed to accept it. Maybe, I should count my blessings, she thought. And she did every day while saying her prayers for the 3 women and her 3 companions. Maybe, she'll see her beloved Mama Do and Papa Do again. They say, puppies go to heaven; for they are good work, aren't they?
