Contributed by Kendall Stewart
Bruce Lee: Wing Chun is Bruce Lee's Original Style. When Bruce was a young, Grandmaster William Cheung introduced Bruce to Great Grandmaster Yip Man. There are many stories told about Bruce Lee, but this one stands out the most. Grandmaster William Cheung tells a story of Bruce Lee's early training. The first year and a half, Bruce and Grandmaster Cheung practiced a lot together. Grandmaster Cheung was Bruce Lee's senior and would encourage him to move past the basics. But he said that Bruce would not move on until he practiced the same moves over and over again. This taught Grandmaster Cheung the power of repetition. They would also practice the forms, slow, fast, hard, soft to learn as much as possible. After a year plus of training, Bruce was handling most of Great Grandmaster Ip man's top students. They were jealous and the told that Bruce wasn't full blooded Chinese. Grandmaster Cheung was given the task of continuing Bruce Lee's training. When Bruce moved to America and wanted to teach us (United States and us :), he was denied. Wing Chun was for Chinese only. Bruce added throws and Kicks to Wing Chun and called it Jeet Koon Do.
Kung Fu: Kung fu is the Ultimate Equalizer. The reason why I got into Kung Fu is because I wanted to equalize the playing field when it came to fighting. If someone is bigger and stronger than me. I don't want them to have an automatic eve. NH for something that I can't control. But I mean is I can't make myself taller. I can make myself stronger. But the railway to equalize the field is to develop and train martial arts. Kung fu is good for the mind, the body and spirit. One big revelation that I've gotten recently is the power of reps. In my life? I played football and basketball and I always practiced only during the season. I never really practice anything without being told.. Now, I'm telling myself to practice Kung Fu every day and the benefit is huge. All the best athletes in people in general learned through repetition. I challenge you today to find something that your passion about and make it a priority to spend time doing it every day.
Kung Fu is more than just fighting and provides confidence. Launch javity in economy of movements. Just think if you could learn one of the most effective fighting arts in the world, would you do it? You have that opportunity! Come to our event on July 20th at 9 o'clock at WellSprings Ministries. Don't miss your opportunity to learn this style that made Bruce leave famous.
