Design Trends 2025
Contributed by Teresa Roy
I’ve enjoyed working in the home décor field for over 30 years, although my focus has always been specifically on window coverings. We try to bring the “big picture” when working with a client trying to create or update a space. This will be a continuing topic, hopefully informative, when making decisions for your home. Keep reading for Some strong design trends we are seeing into 2025
RESTORATIVE RETREAT
Think quiet luxury understated with a focus on craftsmanship. Natural materials like wood, stone, natural fibers. Colors found in nature, ochre, sand, muted greens and blues. A restorative retreat can be an area of your home or an entire room. Sit down and you should feel comfort both emotional and tactile. Accessories could be pottery, wood and eco-friendly materials. For window treatments natural shades are the ideal choice, not only are natural shades made of sustainable natural material, they also bring the beauty of wood and plant fibers into your home.
SATURATED COLOR
We started seeing this a few years ago and will continue. Saturated color of deep blues, dramatic greens, orange and gold. This trend can be as bold as a single color on the walls, ceiling, trim and accessories. Or to update your home to reflect this trend can be as simple as adding accessories such as bedding, pillows and throws color drenching with layers of color pattern and texture.
MID CENTURTY MODERN
A version of this design has been around for a while. With its clean modern lines, and uncluttered design. Symmetry and balance are the focus. For pattern think geometrics. Neutrals are the star here with tend towards black, white and gold. Polished metals, glass and stone are indicators of mid- century modern. Paired with lux textures this vintage design looks fresh. Drapery is the design choice here.
This is by no means a definitive list the best rooms are those decorated to reflect the people who live there. Design is creativity tuned into comfort. Creating solace in our own environments. Surround yourselves with items you enjoy, put a cozy throw on the sofa, a plump pillow. Following a style can help with design choices, creating a room with visual appeal and a sense of harmony.
